The history of Kentucky Eye Care dates back to 1899 with Dr. Adolph O. Pfingst. Dr. Pfingst began his practice by treating Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat conditions, but eventually he focused exclusively on eyes and became the only ophthalmologist in Kentucky.

Within a span of forty years, two physicians who were also army veterans, Dr. C. Dwight Townes and Dr. Harry A. Pfingst joined the practice. With the passing of Dr. Adolph Pfingst, Dr. C. Thomas Moran Sr. joined the practice and they started Townes, Pfingst and Moran P.S.C.

By 1969, Dr. David Townes was practicing and by the early 1970’s Dr. C. Thomas Moran Jr., joined the practice. In 1980, the office welcomed Dr. Jane Portnoy, which contributed to Townes, Pfingst, Moran and Portnoy P.S.C.

During the 1990’s, came merger and practice relocation. Drs. Moran, Townes, and Portnoy merged with Drs. Berberich, Campbell and Flowers forming Kentucky Eye Care. More physicians joined including Drs. Fred Stephenson, Joseph Brightwell, Roger Salot and John Hafner. With the beginning of a new century, two additional physicians joined the staff: Drs. Heather Harmon and Casey H. Johnson.
