At Kentucky Eye Care you will have at least two visits prior to your procedure.
The initial visit is a preliminary consultation with our LASIK counselor and will take 1 to 1 ½ hours. At this visit we will take initial measurements of your eyes to determine if you are a candidate for LASIK. This is also the visit where most of your questions will be answered. We will discuss fully the benefits of LASIK, as well as the risks of potential complications. We will provide you a full understanding of your corrective needs and the options available that fit your expectations and needs. This is a complimentary visit and you will not need to discontinue your contact lenses for this visit.
The second visit is a full comprehensive examination with your surgeon. Your eyes will be dilated to check the overall health of the eye and to examine for ocular irregularities. Refractive measurements will be taken as well as a pupil assessment, corneal thickness measurements, corneal topography and tear function analysis to name a few. The doctor will review your medical history, lifestyle, and expectations with you and review your refractive options as well as the procedure.
You will need to discontinue your contact lenses prior to your comprehensive exam with your doctor. Soft contact lenses discontinue 2 weeks before your exam, gas perms discontinue 3 weeks before your exam.
